Vessels with the style of the WW2 landing craft have been around for decades
but by 2012 the idea of a hull with vehicle carrying abilities that could run at high speeds while avoiding the blunt bow of the LCU was being considered. Over time the concept that there was a better method for achieving the same result was tossed back and forth between members of what then became the Fulcrum team and it soon became apparent that not only could the idea be improved but that the market for such an application would be far greater than originally thought. We saw a refined method that provided shoreline landing for Fire Rescue crisis missions, we envisioned commercial use by land developers to reach potential construction sites, we even imagined luxurious private beach parties supported by a Fulcrum tender from an offshore superyacht. We saw the need for explorer craft for outdoors lovers and even state-of-the-art Special Ops applications. We thought of the use of these craft for uses as simple as day to day material and equipment supply operations all the way to at the far end of the scale, the complexities of disaster relief. These thoughts opened up possibilities for the dreamers that, until now, were totally impractical and we suspect that many other applications exist, which so far, we haven’t spotted. What other ideas are out there? .
